Anthony M. Sussman, MD, FACS
received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Wake Forest University and completed medical
school at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Sussman completed his surgical residency at Memorial
Medical Center and his vascular surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Sussman is
a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Medical Association of Georgia. He
has served as Assistant Professor of Surgery at Mercer University medical School. Dr. Sussman has
conducted many research trials in vascular disease and is a much sought after presenter and keynote
speaker.

Anthony J. Avino, MD, FACS
received his undergraduate degree cum laude from Vanderbilt University and completed medical
school at the University Of Florida College Of Medicine. Dr. Avino completed his surgical residency
at the University of Florida Health Science Center and at the Mayo Clinic; He completed his vascular
surgery fellowship at the University of South Florida. Dr. Avino is a Fellow of the American College
of Surgeons and a member of the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery and the American College of
Phlebology. He is currently an Assistant Professor at Mercer University and conducts research trials
in vascular disease and the author of numerous articles and publications.

Christopher L. Wixon, MD, FACS
received his undergraduate degree from Franklin and Marshall College and
completed medical school at Pennsylvania State University Hospital. Dr.
Wixon completed his surgical residency at the University of Eastern North
Carolina and his vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Arizona
Medical Center. Prior to joining Savannah Vascular Surgery, Dr. Wixon was an
Associate Professor of Vascular Surgery at the University of Utrecht, Netherlands.
Dr. Wixon is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the
International Society of Endovascular Surgery and the Society for Clinical Vascular
Surgery. He is an assistant professor of Surgery at Mercer University medical School
and has received the William S. Halstead Award for excellence is teaching in 2002 and
2006. Dr. Wixon has presented at several international conferences and is a clinical
researcher.

E. Jerry Cohn, Jr., MD, FACS
received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from The University of Texas at San
Antonio and his medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.
He completed his residency at The University of Florida Health Science Center in Jacksonville,
and completed his General Vascular Surgery Fellowship at The University of Maryland Medical
System in Baltimore. Dr. Cohn served in the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel at Keesler
Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Southern
Association for Vascular Surgery and a Southeastern Surgical Society Fellow. Dr. Cohn has
published numerous articles and made several presentations throughout the United States. He
is an assistant professor of surgery at Mercer University Medical School.

Christopher Walls, MD
received his undergraduate degree from Yale University in New Haven, Conn., and his medical
degree from Emory University in Atlanta. He completed both his residency and vascular surgery
fellowship at Emory University. Dr. Walls was an assistant professor of surgery at Emory University.
He joined Memorial Health University Physicians - Savannah Vascular Surgery in 2004 after working in
private practice. Dr. Walls is board certified in vascular surgery and general surgery and brings over
10 years experience to our practice.

Kirstin Nelson, MD
attended the California Institute of Technology and finished her Bachelor of Science degree in
Molecular Genetics at The Ohio State University. Her medical degree was granted by The Ohio State
University College of Medicine. Dr. Nelson completed her radiology residency at The Ohio State
University Hospitals and went on to complete a two year fellowship in Interventional Radiology at
the Medical University of South Carolina. She is board certified in diagnostic radiology and
interventional radiology. She has conducted research on Endovascular interventions and continues
clinical research in this area. She is a published author on many topics in Interventional medicine.

Larry Horesh, MD
graduated from Yale University Medical School in New Haven, Connecticut. He completed his internship
and two years of training in general surgery at Washington University. Dr. Horesh went on to complete
his radiology residency at St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. He was fellowship trained in
interventional radiology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He is certified in vascular and
interventional radiology and has attained additional board certification in Endovascular Medicine by
the Society of Vascular Medicine. Dr. Horesh is a noted presenter and author of many publications on
interventional medicine.

Sheppard Mondy, III, MD
is board-certified in surgery, surgical critical care, and vascular surgery. He completed surgical training
at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After a fellowship in trauma/critical care at the University of
California-Davis, he completed vascular surgery training at Wake Forest University. Before joining Savannah
Vascular Institute, Dr. Mondy was Associate Professor of Surgery and Chief of Vascular Surgery at the Medical
College of Georgia, and consultant in vascular surgery for the Children's Medical Center. He is a Registered
Vascular Technologist and a registered physician in vascular interpretation. Dr. Mondy is a member of the
Georgia Surgical Society, Southern Association fir Vascular Surgery and the International Society of
Endovascular Specialists. He has published extensively in the areas of vascular medicine and endovascular
intervention.

Ganesha Perera, MD, MPH
received his undergraduate degree from University of California and completed medical school at the Medical
College of Pennsylvania. Dr. Perera completed his surgical residency at the University of California Irvine
Medical Center and his vascular surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Perera has published
numerous articles and is a candidate member for the American College of Surgeons and the Midwestern Vascular
Surgery Society.
